Goals

The overall goal of this project is to upgrade the power system on the ECEbot in order to provide two power busses that can supply increased power with increased efficiency.  The project also aims to make the new power system as easy to build as possible, due to the fact that the ECEbots are constructed by freshman in their EE101 course.  The final goals for the new power system are:

  • Use only through-hole components.
  • Implement switching regulators.
  • Provide two separate 5V power busses that can supply 1A each.
  • Achieve efficiency >85%.
  • Achieve output voltage ripple < 100mV.
  • Provide under-voltage, over-voltage, and over current protection.
